Personally, I don't look at cels if there are no thumbnails unless it is a show I like. So basically, you're going to get less hits from me. XD All the people I know have thumbnails, so it's never been a problem.
Every once in a while I run into the thumbnail-less galleries, but I only look at a couple cels in the gallery. My loss, I guess.
I think the problem everyone has with "Coming Soon" sections is that it boots legitimate updates off the main page. Then, the owners usually rescan once the cel is in hand, so they get more time on the homepage when they add the actual cel in. This is how it works, right? I've never had a coming soon section, so I'm not entirely sure. I can keep track of my coming cels offline as easily as online, so I've never felt a need for a section like that.
Basically, I think we all just have hit envy. I'm not blameless--I have it, too. But quite frankly, if people want a Coming Soon section, let 'em have it--unless, of course, it violates RS rules. I don't click on galleries with updated coming soon sections on the homepage. Sorry. Mainly it's because I'm never sure if the update is going to be something I'm interested in. If it is, rest assured that I [i]will[/i] see it eventually. ^_^
