Making GIF's?
I have some cel sequences I would like to animate...can anyone tell me how to do it?
I have photoshop and a scanner...now I just need the info to put them all together!
THANKS!
marie :)
Hi Marie!
Please bear with me - this will take a little bit because the instructions in my PS manual are short and very unclear, while my instructions will be the opposite. I hope this will help you!!
First off - open all the images you will be using for your GIF in Photoshop. Then unlock all the layers.
Second -
Example: Let's say your images are pictures of cels A1, A2, and A3. Cel A1 will be the beginning frame of your GIF. You will move your image of cel A2 out of its layer and put it on top of the image of cel A1 in its layer. Then move A3 on top of A2 and so on until the image of your last cel of the sequence is on top of all the others. Over in your Palette window under your Layers tab, you should have A1 on the bottom, A2 sandwiched in the middle, A3 on top and so on with however many layers you have. If you do it the other way around (start with A3 first), your GIF will run backwards!!!
Third - Select File > Save for Web. A new screen will pop up. It will be divided. Your original image will be on the left, and your GIF preview will be on the right. On the far right of the screen, set your Zoom on 50% if the images are large. They will shrink and you will be able to see the whole image this way. If all went right, you should be able to select the 'Animate' option under the 'Settings' sub box. Then your Animation sub box will unlock right beneath it. Loop is for repetitive play of your GIF; Frame Delay lets you choose how fast or slow you'd like your frames to be displayed. Tinker around with it until you find what you're looking for. You can preview your GIF before saving it by selecting the Internet Explorer icon button.
Fourth - when you're ready to save, click the 'OK' button on the top of the screen. Another screen will pop up labeled 'Save Optimized As..." Save your GIF and you're ready to go!
Other Ideas: If you want to change the size of your GIF icon - after stacking your images together on the same layer, right click the bar above the image and select 'Image size.' If you want to have a flashing name or title for one of the frames, select File > New. Make sure 'Transparent' is selected. Type whatever and put it where you'd like in the layers.
P.P.S. - If I really confused you, I will gladly make a GIF for you if you'd like. I hope this helps!!!!

Well, I have a Simple program (know you already made your gif-saw your site) but here's a simple way...
Use photoshop, make your images "gif"
than use "UNFREZZE" and drag and drop your images there, can littery, make a gif in 30 seconds...

Well I use Macromedia Fireworks. By the way Marie, my offer to do them for you is still available too, unless of course you want to learn how. I'm not amazingly familiar with photoshop tho.
Good luck,
Andy
