ordering on yahoo jp

You can set up the max bid anything you want, like ebay ^_^ So if you want to set max bid 5000 yen, you can do so.

Just looked on Rinkya's FAQ

http://www.rinkya.com/services.php#deposits

Scroll
down a bit and it says
We do not charge deposits. Your card is authorized for the amount only. Therefore, we do not hold any of your money.
I thought it was something like that.

I have been using Rinkya for my YJ bidding. They work fine by me. And yes the deposit is just an authorization for a certain amount on a CC, they do not actually charge that amount to your card. So there is no money up front to use them.

I am not sure what kittens was trying to explain. As far as I can see YJ works just like Ebay. The current bid will not change until a new bid comes in and your bid will stay active until your max is exceeded. The only difference I've seen is that some auctions will get extended time if there is some action on it in the last few minutes, like an additional 5 minutes. There could be another 5 minutes added if another bid comes in. I haven't been able to figure out exactly why this happens. It must be an option that the seller can choose. Some auctions say that they have the "auto extend feature", this might be it. It is a good idea anyways to be around for the end of an auction you are really interested in.

With Rinkya make sure you understand how they work if you and another Rinkya user are bidding on the same item. You will get the lowest sale price possible from the two of you but their commission will be based on the actual sale price and the difference between your and the other Rinkya bidders high bid.

That is about all I can think of to add. It is a good service but it can become expensive with commissions and shipping costs. I would advise to only use it for the items you HAVE to have. Don't bid on everything that catches your fancy, the cost of using the service will build up quickly.

If you have more questions try to catch me on the chat, I am usually there.

Sorry, English is not my first language so I might say something really not clear :P :P

My point is (if I remember ebay correctly, I might be wrong....) on ebay, if you want to change your max bid higher, ebay makes the current bid higher(if I remember correctly.....). But YJ stays the same....

If I made a mistake (about ebay), my approgies (SORRY!).

But like, Mokman said, YJ has time extension (and I really hate that ;_;)...

I have a YJ account and rinkya account.... Since not so many sellers at YJ ship to outside of Japan, I have an account at Rinkya and it works fine with me (of course, I am cheap so I use an account at YJ if I can ^_^).

I have my family in Japan so I do not have so much trouble with shipping but the biggest problem for me is (also I am a native Japanese speaker ^_^ so I can communicate with them perfectly fine) payment..... Not many sellers take paypal.... ;_;

I like Shopping Mall Japan because you don't actually need a credit card (which some of us must avoid having due to worry about overspending). All you do is send them a small deposit, for example: Mine was $20 and that made my bidding limit over $100. They will hold onto that initial $20 for you but if you ever have to have it back you can have it back or use it to pay for an auction but, then you won't be able to bid anymore.
I believe the fees are also a bit lower then Rinkya and you can bid in real time, unlike Celga.
I have found the fees on SMJ to be very reasonable although, sometimes the shipping price can end up a bit steep when all is said and done.
I hope this helps.
