Howl's Moving Castle, Seen it?
Yes I got to see it Subtitled and I LOVED it. When it comes out on DVD I may watch it dubbed because yes I think Billy Crystal would make a hilarious Calcifer, but I'm going to stick to seeing it in the Subbed form in the theaters, it is just incredible. This afternoon I picked up the Book so I should have that finished before Wednesday when I can go back to see it again. I'm only about 30 pages into it, but the book has already cleared up quite a bit of Sophie's family situation.
I can't say how thrilled I am that the animation was more reminiscent of his older works. The detail was incredible you could see shadows under peeling paint on a window, yet it all felt like it was painted from the heart not a computer palette!
They aren't showing it ANYWHERE in Michigan, so I haven't seen it. Who knows when it actually will.
*sigh* It hurts to live in the middle of nowhere sometimes. I'm in CA, but we get nothing in the central zone. I have to travel to San Francisco or LA.
Oooooh, since I'll be going to AX, maybe I can scout a theatre that's showing Howl. ^_____^
I live in Vancouver. Just saw it and can't tell you how impressed I am yet again by the anime master's talent.
Miyazaki does not dissapoint! There is, as always, an element of the incredulity. It is fascinating pretending to live in the anime worlds Miyazaki creates.
As for the book, I read it years ago in school and must say that some key points come across well in this adaptation. Miyazaki could make this a trend, adapting somewhat know fantasy novels- there was a sequel to this book, so you never know. Like Spirited Away there are many questions we can only scratch our heads about by the end but who cares- its a great ride with lots of beatiful imagery.
I live about 30min. (by bus) from NYC. I really, really hope to see this movie before it leaves theatres. It really stinks that Disney didn't release it to more theatres than they did. Sorry to the unfortunate ppl out there *huggles*. I'm sure there will be another cam-rip (hopefully a better one) of it soon to download.
