....but what's a "color model cel"? Is that techie for repro?

Hello Leah,
Color model cels are made to be used by the animators for reference so the colors are the same for all the scenes or just the one it's in.
The head animator will have these made before production starts on the show.
A few of the same cels will be made so these can be given out to all the animation departments for there files.

were made for the movie All Dogs Go To Heaven 2, And as with most high dollar movies these had a little more time spent on them than what you would see in series type shows with low funding.
In movies they tend to change the shading of the toons more so movies will have alot more models than series shows have to show all the changes made for each scene.
In series type shows they tend to use one of the scene cels to show color types, You have most likely seen cel drawings that have color numbers on them, These are also color models but most of the time only one or two are all that are made to save money on the production, Most of the time this is done by the head animator for that toon in that scene these are called Key color model cels.
