Backgrounds

It pisses me off when people make copies of the original background and sell that with the cel keeping the background for themselves..

I can't understand this..
I mean, I know people like the backgrounds, but its breaking up pieces of art that were meant for each other !!

These people can't be considered true collectors

*hmpf*

I think what''s happening is that these dealers are getting the whole sequence and deciding to keep the A1 or the END cel to go with the bg and selling all the inbetweeners with good copies of the bg. A smart move, as it makes the less-good cels attractive to display.

I''ve been asked to make a good copy of an original bg that I have: but that doesn''t mean I''m splitting up the set that I got it with.

But you''ve got to consider that there''s one background for about 10-30 cels . . . except in the rare cases of A1END cels;) What I hate is when people make copies of obviously unmatching bgs and stick them behind cels, expecting them to sell for more. Sad thing is, it usually works.

This is a fact. There is only one background per scene...and sometimes that background is shared with 4 or 5 scenes!
Each scene can have 1 cel (a1e) or 45!
OK...so 4 scenes with 20 cels each is 80 CELS!
And only 1 background....

It is definately the logical choice to make laser copies to sell with the other 79 cels.

I know...because it''s something I''m going to have to do soon.

Frustrating for me to break up a perfect folder though (I have complete folders of scenes.)

So...A1-A23E with B, C, and D layers. Only one BKG. Sad thing is...I can sell the entire folder for what...$100 MAX?? Or I can sell individual cels with laser copy BKG for $40-$60 each.

So I can make $100 and keep it complete as a true collector would...OR I can break it up and make $1000.

The saddest part is the choice is still hard...which is why I''ve put off doing it for almost 6 months now.
