My (almost) 10 year anime fandom anniversary...
last modified: Thursday, March 01, 2007 (6:06:59 PM)
This summer will be my 10 year anniversary of being an anime fan officially. I did watch anime before then, but I didn't know what it was - stuff like La Petit Prince, The Noozles, Lil' Bits, Maya the Bee, etc. when they aired on Nickelodeon.

It makes me feel old, but then, I feel like an "experienced" fan, and I am certainly wiser than I was. I know what to avoid, I've been through all the debate wars (fansubs vs. licensed, sub vs. dub, etc.), I am more open to things. I miss the "fresh" feeling but I like having dozens of shows under my belt, even though it means burnouts and predictibility. In MY day, you had to send away for fansubs, darnit! You had to sit on a waiting list for the distributor to send tapes to you. People could "sponsor" if they wanted (and I actually DID for a Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne ep).

What was my first show? Sailor Moon ^_^

Better save all this to say again in the summer.

By the way, thank you very much to the kind people who contacted me about my feelings on my gallery. I feel a lot better knowing that people enjoy them and my collection is not as "sad" and loser-ish as I think.
