Ziggystardust and the bottomless pocket last modified: Monday, October 15, 2007 (10:34:03 AM) So, I've been hearing lots of stories about Ziggystardust and being a big fan of Yasuomi Umetsu's artwork, I can't help but feel a bit threatened by this character. He/She seems to have a bottomless pocket (or so I was told) and so a "head on" confrontation will most likely result in me losing the item, I so eagerly bided on. I also read a few stories of success against Ziggy, but given his/her bottomless pockets, maybe he/she didn't want those items so bad or just found something else that appealed more to him/her. I mean, to bid over 300k Yen for a cel, is just...well, insane.
Fortunately, I have not confronted this character yet and I hope I never do. But given the fact that my collection, is specific to Mr Umetsu's artwork and that Ziggy also tends to lurk (haunt ?) those auctions, that confrontation will undoubtedly occur. Maybe I'm giving this person too much credit, but please share your rumblings of past Ziggy confrontations that you either were part of or simply witnessed.

*shivers* Rumblings about Ziggy eh? This may take a while...best to take some time to compose my thoughts. I''m sure Ashenfairy, Krafty and Poe have some things to share however...
While I personally have never bid against him, I''ve watched some of the auctions that have gone into astronomical figures on Yahoo!Japan. Regardless of what you may hear, this person does not bid thousands of dollars on every single Umetsu cel on the internet. ^_^ But if you''re ever contemplating buying high-end artwork, you''ll most likely encounter Ziggy. Just understand that if you *really* want something, you''ll have to shell out big bucks to get it and probably turn your hair white in the process. :) But don''t lose heart: there are plenty of good pieces that he doesn''t bid on that will be within your price range. Of course, Ms. Poe and Startyde will have more to say on this subject, as they are constantly butting heads with him. ^_^;
O yes...He''s bid $3k on several Umetsue cels. Most don''t go that high b/c the other bidders stop bidding...If I had it when the Momo shower scene popped up I woulda'' bid up to $5k...But there were other cels I was after at the time...*sigh* There''s much more to tell, but work is pulling me from telling it right now. Apologies...
I have not had experience with this seller, since I don''t bid on cels from that show. But I know the feeling of not being able to defeat a Yahoo Japan rival... -_- I wish you better luck! |
