After a break from collecting...

It's strange but if you constantly collect cels, sometimes you become obsessed. I've gone on two streaks of maybe 3-5 years of just constantly reading cel forums and checking if sites update and trying to be the first one to order if I see something...It was such an obsession I remember not wanting to go out with my friends sometimes...

I took another one year break this year(mostly do to my trip to Japan and constantly working). I needed to think about it some more and now I'm a little more mature than before and it's not as big of an obsession I think. I can honestly say I love the pieces I buy and if I don't I don't try to make the money I paid for it back, I just put it up on ebay for a low starting bid just so that someone else could be happy with it.

I think that a while ago I was the kind of cel collector that I personally didn't like. I tried to get the lowest price on cels and often sold when there was a high trend. For instance I was poor and in high school so I sold all my FY cels that I had acquired very inexpensively and acquired huge profits to buy the rest of my collection. I didn't love my pieces like I do today. I'm glad people can grow up and move on. I realize now that in order to collect cels as a hobby you can't try to have better cels than the next person...you can't try to buy every cel you see...just really love the cels you buy and you'll be happy. I have some old pieces and have just recently acquired a few that I will put up later on in the month. I give props to those that can realize what I did in my epiphany the first time.
