The Happy Ending

Okay! It's been a bit of a tough road, though not in comparison to what others go through, I'm sure.

I got hired for a new job last Friday. I've got to wait for my paperwork to go through, and then I can start actually working again. Around Febuaray 27th my boss from my old job contacted me and told me that she would not be needing any help until March 27th. -__- Now, I was slightly irritated at the 2.5 hours a week, but no work was a little too much. I mean, I have a cell phone bill to pay, plus gas, car insurance, and food to buy. So, I started to look for a new job in ernest--sending out a couple of applications a day.

I had two interviews last Thursday. At the first one, the interviewer was extremely friendly and pretty much hired me after asking two questions. At the second, the head HR manager was not in for the day, so I just got a tour of the building. It was so frickin' awesome! I could not help but think about how neat it would be to work in that building--it's a science research building, and is set up in such an interesting way. The HR manager who showed me around was incredibly friendly as well. She even introduced me to some people who work in marketing for the center when she heard that I was getting my degree in English.

So, I had to come back the next day for the actual interview. The head HR manager was . . . not the friendliest person in the world. I do not think she smiled once until the very end of the interview. Basically, she did not want to hire me because I could not work during the summer, and I was unsure about next fall since I really need to get some real world experience under my belt (ala internships). I was a little upset, just because the center was so amazing (very tight security too--they literally had retina scanners 0.o), but now that I've thought about it, if she was going to be my overall boss, I do not know if I would enjoy my time there.

So, anyway, I'll probably start my new job tomorrow, work until Wednesday, and then go out of town on Thursday. I mean, I've got to do something for spring break! Even if I don't drink and have no desire to go to Rocky Point while so many drunk Americans are down there . . . By the way, the dorms are incredibly quiet during spring break! ^_~

But my job is not the only happy ending! Some of you may remember my month from heck last semester. If you don't, I basically got my Ipod and my bike stolen from me within a two week period. Well, I've borrowed kymaera's bike for a while--neither one of us really knows for how long, but I'll eventually give it back. ^_~ I just have trouble finding it because it's blue and has no real distinguishing features. My old bike had a basket on the back with a Homer-as-King-Kong figure attached to the back, courtesy of my father. Then, for Christmas, I got a nice little present from Tex-chan--an Ipod replacement! It has more gigs than my old one, and my little brother told me that the back looks better than my old one. ^.^ Now that it's warming up I just need to find a clip or something for it so I can ride my bike with it. I used to put it in my jacket pocket, but with highs close to 90 degrees, it will be a bit too warm to carry it that way.

Anyway, things look like they're starting to pick up. Thank you to everyone who has lent me support in the past while, especially kymaera and Tex-chan. Oh, and we can't forget Leah's random gift of portable Hawaii, now can we? ^_~ I hope everyone out there is doing alright.

*hugs*

*HUGS* I''m so glad you like the Ipod, and that it''s working out well for you. Hopefully the "odd" music selection on there didn''t frighten you too much. *nervous laugh* =P And, YAY(!!) for the new job. I hope it''s a lot of fun. It''s about time that things started looking up for you. *hugs again*
