I'm Done!
last modified: Friday, December 15, 2006 (1:45:47 AM)
The semester is over. Finally. I cannot believe how incredibly long that semester felt. >.< Let's just say that it did not get off to a good start, and things went downhill from there. I've had all sorts of roommate troubles, an extremely busy class schedule, and most recently, a string of thefts (not to mention a string of four finals in two days ;_;).

But, I am glad to say that I am finally finished with this semester! On Monday, I had an English literature final, and since I had opted to take that class for honors credit, I also had a twelve page paper due the same day. I got to nine, printed that out, and rushed to class. For some reason, my mind had decided that the test was scheduled to start at 12:40. Makes sense, since most classes at my university start at either a forty or fifeteen minute mark. I left my dorm at 12:39, pedaled like the wind, and made it to the lecture room by 12:45. On the way, I noticed the lack of people milling about campus, and felt slightly worried. It turns out that my concern was securly rooted--the test started at 12:20. Luckily, I finished about two minutes before time was up.

Then, I slinked up to my lecture professor, who I had been working with on my paper and who was sitting next to the grad student assigned to my section. I told him that I only had nine pages, and the others were handwritten but not typed yet (only a half fib, as I did have about another page's worth of stuff at home). Let me tell you, this has been one of the most frustrating papers I have written. The professor tore apart my first draft, and trivialized my second. I was pissed at him. Truth be told, I deserved everything he dished out--my paper did not really have a thesis until Sunday afternoon. When I explained my predicament, he said that it was alright, and to email it to him and my section leader, and take some time to polish it up. 0.0 I have never had icky feelings towards a person so quickly reversed before.

I didn't work on the paper that night, as I had another English final (in linguistics) the next day. But . . . I didn't study for that final, either. I went to my church's Christmas party instead. I went to sleep around nine, planning to get up early to study. It's really hard to get up when it's cold. So, I went to work for a couple of hours, and spent about twenty minutes studying, and even then only half-heartedly. It showed when I went to take the test. I swear I got less than a seventy percent. There were only about eleven or so questions, and I completely blanked on a couple. I literally went home and cried. I had determined that I would email my professor and beg for some extra credit, since this would most definately drop my A to a B. For such an easy class, I would hate myself for getting a B. Plus, I'm trying to keep my major GPA a 4.0. Luckily, I didn't make a fool of myself in an email. Grades for that class are the only ones out right now. I got an A. ^_^

Tuesday night after taking the linguistics final but before grades were posted, I slept from about 7:00pm to 10:00pm and got up to finish that paper. I was awake until 5:30. 0.o I was having a hard time focusing at first, so I doubt that I actually started working on the thing until about 2 or 3am. Then, when I finally got into bed around 5:45am, I had the hardest time sleeping. I doubt I got to sleep until 6:30 or so. Then, a phone call woke me up around 9am, and I was off to start another day. Exhausting!

So anyway, now, I'm done with school, and back at my parents'. I moved everything over today. It wa exhausting. I've never had to do that by myself before. ;_; But, ever since my parents bought me a nice little clunker, they've expected me to do a lot more for myself. Luckily, I was able to get my mom to pick up my (read: kymaera's) bike. It was no fun fitting that into my car the first time, and my car was full enough as it is!! 0.o I had to bring my cels and anime home, after all. ^_~

YAY! You''re done, and it seems like you survived. (Barely, but that is good enough, ne?) And, congrats on getting an A in the one class. I''m sure you did really well in everything else. And ... reading your blog makes me remember why I''m glad to be an old fart and no longer in school! *gloms*

In a question of cels vs. bike, cels win every time. ^_^

Yup. I''m with Tex - glad I''m no longer doing all that crapola. Some of it sounds waaaaay too familiar. ~_^
Except the whole 4.0 thing. <.< *whistles tunelessly and looks up in the sky*

CONGRATULATIONS on finally making it through the semester from Hell!!! XD
Well. Now that you got all that crap out of the way all in one semester, that frees up the next semester to be much easier on you.
Right? ^_^
Here''s hoping!

Thanks everyone!

Tex, I''m such a meanie. I haven''t gotten around to reading that fic yet. *bangs self on head*

Yep, Zag, I am addicted. >.< Though, I don''t really have the money for either one right now (I''m still waiting for over $150 in cel payments from my sale . . .)

Perv-chan! I can only hope. ;_;

You know, I just checked my grades and I got an A- for my creative writing class. Huh? I don''t understand! How do you get anything but an A in that class?

Congratulations! It was the linguistics class that drew my attention: the one class that I flunked in college. I took it from a professor named Bernard Bloch. Anyhow, I went into the final with a B average, and got a 23 on the exam. Well, it might have helped if I had actually studied, but studying was beneath my dignity. Oh, I had plenty of excuses for it, but all these years later I can still hear my parents'' comments.
