Update, episdoe hunting, and a disappointment
last modified: Saturday, May 28, 2005 (4:16:03 AM)
So I was really excited to get not one, but TWO packages of cels on the same day. Hurray for me!! That's mostly what's in this update, adn I'm really looking forward to some others that are in the mail.

Sadly, the Mousse cel I have has been stained by his background. You can't tell in the scan, but all of his white clothing has splotches of purplish-pink. And so the background is missing some paint now as well, but they are not stuck. Any suggestions out there for getting the splotches off the cel?

I spent quite a bit of time searching through dvds of anime that I do have for specific episode numbers/titles, so enjoy it! Actually, I really only looked for cels which I had an idea of where it might be found, so it wasn't too difficult. But I found out that Hitomi wears that borrowed dress far longer than I remembered. I think it ended up being close to 5 episodes--and my cel turned up in the last episode that she wore it . . .

Speaking of Hitomi, I really got a big disappointment the other day. I had won a very nice close-up of her without her school jacket, just after she sees what Van does to Dilandau, but it turns out that the seller already sold it a month ago and it was relisted due to a computing error. I'm a Dilandau fan, but I haven't seen any cels on the market, so I figure Hitomi's reaction is probably the closest I can get to THAT scene at the moment, so I was kind of upset to hear that. Plus, I know where the original matching background is, and while I did not expect to be able to buy that, I was hoping to be able to get a color copy. The seller? mangadrake, which is Mandrake's ebay user id. Considering that fact, I believe that it really was an honest mistake, but it really is disappointing--not to mention the fact that selling things you don't have is completely against ebay policy, and I am completely within my rights to report them, etc. But I do believe it was a mistake, so I don't really want to do that. I have however, asked if they have any other Esca cels they can sell me for around that price--seems reasonable right? Do you think I was out of line to do so? What should I do? Sigh . . .

Hello Klet,
If the paint is coming thru the paint it is caused by moist air getting to the background water colors at one time or another, Sadly there is no way to remove the paint stains but you can stop any more damage if you put the cel in a sealed cel bag so the air can not get to it as the moist air will bleed more of the paint thru to the front but if you seal it from the air it should stop any more damage to the paint.
You can place the cel on top of the background after you seal it in the cel bag, Don''t use tape to seal it use the gum type bags as the tape is very acidic and will stain your background yellow.
It is a very nice key master setup by the way.
I hope this helps you out some.
