Over saturation at the worst times! last modified: Tuesday, November 24, 2015 (4:43:38 AM) Ever have a chunk of cels you'd want that just list simultaneously when your finances won't allow it? Have any cool stories to share? I'm curious to hear them. I could see this being serious problem for SM and DBZ collectors due to series popularity.
Omg, YES. As a Sailormoon collector, I am really having this problem. It started with the BWA in August, and that was a real heartbreaker...there were so many fantastic pieces, between the gorgeous hankens and some spectacular scenes. I was seriously freaking out because two happened to be cels that had been at the top of my wishlist--for like 15+ years! Given that I had never participated in a BWA, I had no idea how it worked and I didn''t get a lot of sleep for those two weeks leading up to auction time. ^^; I ended up getting the two I desperately wanted, but my poor wallet! (Ouch!) One went for far less than I thought it should have, but the other ended up as the priciest SM cel I''ve seen in recent years and more than made up for it. I felt so guilty about dropping that much that I ended up cleaning out my closet of some nice (but never worn) pieces through consignment...thank goodness I was able to replenish the funds over the next three weeks. So I suppose there''s a happy ending: I now have a cleaned and organized closet into the bargain, ha! Recently, it seems that the success of those SM auctions (and others on YJP) may have flushed some additional cels onto the market as collectors are looking to unload while the market is high. I suppose that was a predictable outcome. I had a brief respite for the last month or two, even as I watched skyrocketing bids on YJ, because there wasn''t too much that I really wanted. I was just starting to breathe a sigh of relief...but then LunaArt refreshed another sale, just as some really amazing pieces started popping up here and there...and here we go, again! Of course, this time I don''t have a lot of extra handbags laying around to consign, so I''m having to critically evaluate next steps. I''m actually at the point of thinking I should stop my cel site checks altogether, to preserve my Christmas funds (and sanity). T_T I think you''re right, DBZ collectors are probably in the same boat. The last BWA had some great piece

Yeah, today in fact there were a number of DBZ items going that I wanted that all ended within the same hour, just so happens I had a family get together at that hour, so im frantically trying to bid on 5 lots on my mobile...I won only one for a good price, one of ssj3 goku went for a good price I missed that one do a poor network connection...grr... the other was Radditz on manda, Me and this other bidder went on for ages but i tapped out at 40k :( I hope its gone to a good home.... :( |
