Silent Movies last modified: Wednesday, August 31, 2005 (1:34:49 AM) I just returned from my friend's house, where we watched 'College' with Buster Keaton. Trust me, though they may be silent, they are the most hilarious movies you'll ever see. Pretty much any BK or CC movie is great, but I highly recommend 'The General' with Buster. I think I'll watch that one right shortly...
Ah! I LOVE Buster Keaton! I know way too much about him, it''s sad. In the General, did you know he broke his neck and didn''t even know it? He found out like a year later, after suffering from headaches. It''s the scene where all the water pours on him, there''s so much force, it smashes him to the ground. Pretty intense. I love physical comedy. In our time of computers and CGI, it''s truly a dead art. CC is great as well. You have excellent taste ^_^
I did not know that he broke his neck - wow. I just read that his father would throw him into stage scenery and throw him down stairs and stuff like that to show people that Buster was tough as nails...it''s amazing! Awesome that you''re into silents as well. Have you seen ''College'' yet? Great stuff!
Silent movies are great! I''ve caught a few at a local theatre, but I think my favorite so far has been the 1928 version of The Phantom of the Opera. Soooo funny. The theatre even had an organist come in and play all the music. ^_^
Which reminds me - a while ago at my university, some guy came with a synthesizer keyboard and did all the sound effects for a Laurel and Hardy movie. It was muy bueno.
Hi, If you like Buster, you will love Harold Lloyd. He is a Keaton contemporary and one of the masters of physical comedy. Just a heads up.
