Time to Cross that Threshold in Cel Collecting....
last modified: Monday, January 29, 2007 (7:51:29 PM)
When I was in the RS chat awhile ago we talked about the infamous $1K club. You know, collectors who have dropped $1K or more on one single cel. After much thought and consideration, I have finally decided that it is time for me to cross that threshold in cel collecting. I have finally found a cel that is borderlining Holy Grail for me, and I am so excited!!!

Expect some cels to dissapear from my collection. Those particular cels are going to new homes. I will also be doing some updating sooner or later with some new cels I have received in the past month or so(I am slow at updating). I am really wanting to get a new scanner before I scan anything else in... just because it will be easier for me. I hate/love cels with backgrounds and oversized cels!! >_>

I currently have two wishlist cels that I am eyeing. If all falls into place I will be updating my gallery with them in about a month or two :D :D

I may also be straying away from Ayashi no Ceres cels for a bit. Spend my money on another series for awhile. I say this, but I know I will keep buying cels from this series >_< HAHAHA

Anyways, I'd figure I'd update. I am kinda bored at work and on my break. Thinking of ways to spend my money that i am making at this very moment.. HAHA

It''s a painful club to join but well worth the effort. Congrats! I have a feeling I know what you''re after as I know of a website you just recently visited. ~_^ Best of luck! I love people getting their holy grails. ^_^

I''m sure you''ll love it to pieces and hardly, if ever, regret it. ^_^
I occasionally have fleeting moments of disbelief: I paid HOW much?! O_o I''m insane!
But happy. *___*

All I can add is to just be sure that the cel is one you truly want, Just cause others have spent into that range for one''s we could not live without should not make you feel pressured to do the same.

I''m not pressured at all to buy em. I was actually thinking a few nights ago "if i ever found such and such cel, id pay anything for it. too bad those types of cels are have long gone been taken". BUT ALAS I WAS WRONG O_O A MIRACLE!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I actually have two that i want over that mark... *shakes fists* DAMMIT. in a month... oooh yes a month *scrambles to put BS on ebay* HAHA

I find that crossing the limit once is the hard thing. After that, if it''s something you really want, you won''t think twice of going that high.

Yes, it is quite a bit of money and yes, you could use that to spend on other things. But, if it''s something you really love, then, somehow, it''s justifiable.

But, anyways, good luck and here''s to not having to eat Top Ramen for the next month or so to pay it off.

In a way, there really is no threshold. It is different for everyone- it is whatever a cel is worth to you- it may be $50, it may be $5000. It''s always what you are willing to pay to accquire something extremely special to you. My most recent cel purcahse was $1200, and I am currently in the midst of a transaction for a genga set for $1000. I''ve laid awake a couple of nights thinking, "Am I nuts!!?? I am going to pay a grand for a few pieces of paper?!" But then I think as to why I am paying that price- it''s because it''s something I want so badly and is something so unique and special, that I will pay just about any price to accquire it. And as long as you get the item and don''t regret it in the end, crossing that ever-changing threshold is well worth it.

Good luck!! I hope you get your wishlist items and when you do- I hope they give you that warm, fuzzy feeling inside that makes it all worth the money and doubt ^_^x
