First entry here: it seems I came to cel collecting about 15 years too late. I started collecting with a whim purchase of a Sailor Moon bank cel on ebay, but after researching further and finding Rubberslug, I became hooked. Aside from a few Sailor Moon cels that I treasure, I mostly only collect materials from the Utena TV series and I don't want a big collection -- just one where every piece is something I feel attached to. Which means that if I find I don't love a piece anymore, it's time for it to go!

I got most of my pieces either by haunting eBay or getting in touch with individual collectors online. It's tough to find people since the Rubberslug feedback is down, but people have been really generous with their time and advice! I hope to slowly grow my collection in the years to come.

Thanks for your comment. I once passed up the chance to get a couple of cels from the Beatles animated film _Yellow Submarine_ and regretted that decision years later. So when the chance came with _Cardcaptor Sakura_, I jumped and have had a great time ever since. Yes, the market has changed, but it is still an enjoyable hobby and one with lots to teach you about the complex way animation works. Glad to hear that you find the community supportive and looking forward to hearing more from you.

While it''s true that you did miss the heyday of anime cel collecting in the US, the good news is that it''s still going strong in Japan. And since many US collectors have stopped collecting, now is actually a good time to grab some deals while people liquidate their collections. I do wish that the RS contact feature still worked (it would certainly make acquiring new pieces much easier!), but there are still a few folks inhabiting Anime-Beta and the various Facebook groups who may be able to help you get in contact with someone. :)
