Horrible experience in shipping
last modified: Friday, March 02, 2007 (11:43:11 AM)
I recently sold a gorgeous Sasuke sketch set, and today I found this e-mail from the buyer:

Hi: The Sasuke sketches arrived today, unfortunately the cardboard outerbox was not well sealed, all of the sketches came out and were shoved back in after being shredded into several pieces, all of the sketches were ruined. I was very dissappointed and saddened to say the least, next time please don't trust just the sticky glue on the box flap, use tape also. I will try and piece some of them toegether but there is no value left to any of the sheets.Too bad because they appear to have been an awesome set.

I am just heartbroken. I am so incredibly anal about shipping. I always, always, always use packing tape on the outside of the priority mail boxes as I most definitely do not trust the packing glue. The only thing I can think of is that somehow the tape was torn and the glue popped open. Either way, I'm just sick. I hate that this happened to her, since she was such a great buyer, and I hate that such beautiful sketches were ruined.

That''s so horrible! I''m so sorry this happened, especially since it was a good sales transaction (as in the buyer was one of the good folks out there). It''s always frightening having to send precious artwork through the mail, and so awful when something like this happens. "Heartbreaking" -- the perfect word for it. *hugs*

By the way ... I just had to add that I LOVE the new look here in your gallery! Fantastic, as always. ^.^

Hi,
That is awful! I do know how you feel. I shipped a sketch once and it kind of dislodged from its cardboard packaging. It attached itself to the sticky glue on the priority box and unfortunately was ripped when the buyer opened it. Totally horrible! I feel for you!

Aaaack! Awful!! I''m sorry for both of you! It does seem like you had a gem of a buyer, though, from the composed tone of her note... Some people might have gone ballistic on you, even though it wasn''t your fault. I''m a wacko-paranoid packager too... the only thing I''ve had completely destroyed was a package I sent overseas which arrived crushed, complete with fork-lift tread marks on top!! @_@ Now, I can pack pretty darn well, but I can''t compete with a fork lift!! Stuff happens... but it''s always such a bummer when it happens. So so sorry! *hug*

Hey, buttrflym, that''s was me and I know that it was not your fault...it was a very small tear. I still love the sketch.

That''s awful for both of you, Keri, I''m so sorry to hear this happened espically having just sent a package today. I''m going to be worried about it until it gets to it''s owner and I know it arrived safely.

First, I about had a heart-attack reading this. You know, since I''m getting a Sasuke in the mail. ^_~

But second, I''m really sorry to hear this happened to you. *sobs* Just remember - things happen sometimes. I once had a cel shipped to me that arrived half out of the package. Luckily, the cel was still in great condition. I actually never to the seller about it and she''s a very good cel bud of mine. (No, it wasn''t you.)

*hugs again* ^_^

Thanks, everyone.

This whole thing with the PO just frustrates me. I can''t believe that they just shoved the sketches back in, and didn''t take care of making sure they didn''t get stuck to the glue. I guess I can''t expect them to take care of the things they ship, but I feel that they should. Big lesson learned. Now I must be twice as anal in packing as I already am. ^_^
