Aernath's head will spin for me saying this, but... last modified: Sunday, September 24, 2006 (3:41:40 PM) Cartoon Network just started to air Bleach. I'm a huge fan of the first two arcs (before the awful filler... I don't hate filler just for being filler, but this stuff hurts my eyes and ears), so I decided to Tivo it and give it a shot. I'm always curious about English dubs for a show that I really like. I finally got around to watching it today and OMG! I'm squealing like a fangirl!!
Jonny Yong Bosch is the voice for Ichigo!!! Squeeeeeeeee! He to me is like Johnny Depp to Duotrouble... I'll watch anything this man does. I've been in love with his voice since Trigun. When I met him at AnimeFEST last year, it was like a dream come true. I handed him a Trigun DVD to sign and he thanked me for having him sign as Vash instead of the Black Ranger. He had been saying, "It's Morphin time!" all day and I think he was relieved that someone knew him from something else. Or that's just me being hopeful that he saw me in a different light. But back to the topic at hand. As much as I love the original Bleach voices, Jonny Yong Bosch aside, they did a really good job picking the voices for the dub. Especially Chad. I can't wait to hear Ishida and the other Shinigami captains. I am so excited that Bosch is doing another anime, especially an anime I love!! Looks like I will be buying the DVDs with the dub after all. Ah I'm in love... (See, I can write a non-controversial blog. :P) Don't throw rotten tomatoes at me, Leah. I know you're in the states now and can easily do so...
Okay! First, I wouldn''t be surprised if this turned into a controversial blog. I read a thread about what people thought of the English VAs for Bleach. My hope is this blog stays friendly. ^_^ Now, I have to agree with you. I thought Ichigo''s voice in English is perfect! I''m currently watching the sub and tuned in for the dub just to hear. I didn''t have any problems with it. *sigh* Your Jonny and my Johnny! *sigh*
I liked the English voices, too. So ... if this turns ugly, I guess the three of us are going to have to find a good hiding place. *grin*
... you thought I wouldn''t be watching too? XD Yeah, I had to watch. I''ve been tivo-ing it AND staying up late to watch it in person. ~_^ Jonny does all right. He doesn''t make me cringe after the first few seconds of mental adjustment. I always watch subs whenever possible, and I''ve been in love with Masakazu''s voice since I first heard ~him~ as Ichigo. ~_^ So now we both love Ichigo for different reasons. ^_^ We bought a 40" tv to watch Bleach on, and I''ve found Jonny''s voice doesn''t distract me from the eyecandy at ALL. I''m still getting a kick out of seeing repros and layouts as the show unfolds. ~sigh~ And yes, I still have yet to get past episode 65 of Bleach due to the unutterable ickiness of that filler. rar. For me, the show ended with episode 63. Everything else since has just been ... well... poor. V_V And I''d never throw rotten tomatoes at you! <.< Those might actually do damage. Now, Marshmallows... !!!! XD
With you 100% on that, Leah! As soon as Ichigo says good-bye, the curtain should fall and the words "THE END" should grace the screen. I still read the manga (God knows why) and it''s not as bad but it''s pretty bad. Maybe I''ll just buy the DVDs up until episode 63. ^_^
Throw away! I''ll sit here with my mouth open. Ah my Jonny and Rin''s Johnny... that could be an interesting girl''s night. Oh and TC... I''m hiding at your house.

I don''t know . . . I''ve only seen one episode of the dubb, but it''s not really something I''d stay up to watch. I''ve got plenty of other things to do on a Saturday night, and if nothing else, a huge backlog of fansubs to watch. So, while Johnny''s pretty good, I''m not uber excited to watch it dubbed. On the other hand, things might change once a certain shopkeeper shows up . . . :P Actually, I was at a comic/anime con with kymaera on Saturday (too much comic, not enough anime, but he was happy, so meh) and Johnny was one of the guests . . . the con was by my parents'' house, and we kept joking about swinging by to pick up my old Power Rangers movie for him to sign. I guess that was a bad idea, huh? In any case, he hadn''t shown up at the con by the time we left. Which really isn''t a big deal to me, as I never keep track of names in the industry, anyway. I could probably recognize my favorite Japanese seiryuu''s name, but never type it out. >.< Heck, I can barely name a handful of Hollywood''s big stars. Can we say pop-culture oblivious? *sweatdrop* Hey! If you''re roasting marshmellows at Tex''s, can I join? I promise not to burn too many of them . . .
I enjoyed the original Japanese voice myself, but to each their own. |
