Retiring?
last modified: Sunday, October 31, 2004 (11:10:59 AM)
So yeah we've toyed with the idea of retiring before but, I'm sick off all the people in the hobby I really really hate. When we started everyone was quite nice very helpful and all around awesome. But, now there more cel collectors I meet the less of them I like. I mean there are still people I compltely adore and I meet more people I like even still. Just with the rising popularity of anime I'm noticing a lot more obnoxious people. A single trip to the animanga forum is enough to illustrate that. I think it's important for cel collectors new and old to note one simple fact. Cel collecting does not make you cool. It is a nerdy hobby. If you have better things than someone else it does not make you cool or better in any way it makes you a nerd with more money. Please realise this and stop being self rightious jerk. Our little community would be a lot better place if this happened.

I find that with anything having to do with anime (anime DVDs), people get nasty. You get judged for what you like or dont like. You are ridiculed if can''t pronounce something right or if you watch anything dubbed. Many act like they know everything and have a sense of being some ubber ''God of Anime''. I guess it''s the same with anime cels, cards, pencil boards, etc. Then again, this is based on my personal experiences with workers at Suncaost, Best Buy, my school anime club and other aniem fans, forums, chat, and LiveJournal.

Please don''t retire! I adore your gallery and would hate to see it not grow any more. Yeah, some people in this hobby can be jerks, but the world outside is like that as well. You just have to learn to take the good & the bad, and synthesize it into something tolerable. Animanga drives me nuts, which is why I switched to being exclusively on Anime-Beta. AB lets you "ignore" people, if you choose. That way, you don''t have to read 100 inane posts by the same individual(s).

C''mon kiddo, you have to be strong, for all your friends who love you...please. I mean it''s the same with any hobby. I mean, c''mon...Jenn must tell you 1000 times a day about every 14 year old ass who strolls into her store who thinks they''re the god of gaming cause the first system they ever got was an Xbox and now he''s some 1337 hax0r cause he can do a 470 in Tony Hawk 2, complete with pretentious advertisements to fuel their already misinformed, heinously inflated ego''s of nonexistent grandeur...

...so...yeah...um. Stay, or Jon will cry...and if there''s something you don''t wanna see a 24 year Armenian kid from MA do is cry...

Awww I''m really sorry to hear that. I''ve met a lot of great people from this hobby (including you) and it is ashame that people have to be so mean and make the good ones leave. I really hope you don''t think about retiring. Remember with all the bad comes the good. I''m sure you have those out there that agree with you. I do, some people think because they own like the $1000 cels they are on top of the world. Well for me, I would never spend that much for a cel even if I did have the money. And I only buy cels for what I believe they are worth to me, not what someone else thinks.

I hope this helped a little, but please do reconsider retiring, I''ll miss you! You''ve been kind to me and I gave one of your Sailor Moon cels a good home.
